All artwork is by Alexis Rivierre and Chad Reynolds.
Alexis Rivierre’s work seeks to push against the power structures within institutional racism, and the oppression that these stereotypical images help to maintain. Through self-portraiture, performance and mask making, Alexis has sought to create an experience of vulnerability that juxtaposes perceived societal expectations with a series of constructed truths that question black womanhood in public spaces. Alexis Riverre is an interdisciplinary artist and 2018 MFA graduate from Wichita State University.
Chad Reynolds is the author of six poetry chapbooks, including Drummer (Greying Ghost, 2015), Eau-de-Vie (Sixth Finch Books, 2015), and Indian Hills, OH (Migrant Press, fall 2015). His poems have appeared in Washington Square, Cutbank, Meridian, Puerto del Sol, Redivider, minnesota review, Octopus, Sink Review, Spork Press, and elsewhere. He lives in Oklahoma City where he runs Short Order Poems, which he co-founded in early 2014. In 2015, with poet Alexis Orgera, he founded Penny Candy Books, a children’s book press dedicated to publishing books that reflect the diverse realities of the world we live in.
